techcrew
Since my freshman year I've been a part of the Harrison Performing Arts Center's Technical Crew. I started out as a mic runner, was elected Head of Mics during my freshman year, and am currently the Head of Sound. I've learned many lessons about communication, team work, problem solving, leadership, balance and more from my experiences with the tech crew. Tech has also taught me my passion for production and management. My Tech Crew has become like a second family.
Hours range from 6 hrs/week (offseason)
to 42 hrs/week (during productions 3x a year)

I worked with our school's Head of Lights and hired professionals on setting lights for shows and productions.

As Head of Sound I help organize weekly meetings, and teach fellow techies all I know about sound.

I have experience with a portable analog soundboard. I set up the PA system with a wired or wireless setup.

Musical Productions
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Soundboard Operator
For this production I mixed the sound for the main characters and main ensemble members. I got to put my knowledge of music theory to use in mixing the sound and balancing the voices in this musical. I was also in charge of creating mic plots, training mics runners, and managing everything sound related.
Seussical
Head Mic Runner
This was the first show musical I was ever a part of. I was the Head Mic Runner in my freshman year of high school. I got the experience the pressure and adrenaline of working backstage during a musical. The show involved a lot of crazy costumes and several group quick changes that provided challenges for me figure out and overcome..
Me and My Girl
Assistant Soundboard Operator & Head of Mics
This was the second musical production I was a part of. As assistant soundboard operator I shadowed at the soundboard to learn more about running the board and mixing for a musical. I also managed the mic runners backstage and was there for any problem solving during the shows.

Guys and Dolls
Soundboard Operator
This was a middle school production that was performed at the high school while the middle school auditorium was under construction. With just a week of rehearsals we put together and ran the musical. It was my first time mixing a musical. I learned a lot from being thrown into a production with such a short timeline with just a week to learn the show, teach students, and perform it. I earned a lot about mixing and balancing voices here.
The Little Mermaid
Soundboard Operator
This was a middle school production in which me and my fellow tech members went to the middle school in our district and helped run the show. I trained and supervised the mic runners at the middle school. For this show I ran the board, ran the sound cues, and helped manage the middle school mic runners.
Oliver
Head Mic Runner
This was a middle school production in which me and my crew from the high school went to the middle school to help run the production. I trained middle school students to be mic runners. During the shows I supervised and helped with troubleshooting backstage. This show was when I performed my quickest mic changes!

Straight Plays
I've worked on five plays with the HHS Footlight Players. These plays have an on-stage studio audience. Since mics are not required, my job is to run sound cues and projections.
